Ethiopia is one of Africa’s best-kept secrets, which makes it more authentic, unspoiled, and appealing than many others. The incredible landscapes of the Blue Nile, the southern tribes, and the Ark of the Covenant are some of its main attractions. Rosa is able to take us even further. Declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1978, it was placed on the List of World Heritage in Danger in 1996 due to a significant decline in its species populations.
Simien Mountains National Park is one of Ethiopia’s national parks. It is located in the Simien Mountains, part of the Ethiopian Highlands, in the Semien Gondar area, within the Amhara region. It contains Ras Dashen, a largely unknown destination for international tourists, and, due to the reasons explained, extremely difficult to obtain entry permits.
Another largely unexplored site is Dallol, a volcanic crater or sea in the Danakil Depression, northeast of the Erta Ale mountain range in Ethiopia. It was formed by the intrusion of basaltic magma into Miocene salt deposits and subsequent hydrothermal activity. Phreatic eruptions occurred in 1926, forming the Dallol volcano, while other eruption craters dot the nearby salt flats.
These craters are the lowest subaerial volcanic vents in the world, 45 meters below sea level. A unique visit with an unforgettable experience. Knowing the destination so well, we can eat like a local at the restaurants. For example, at La Mandoline in Addis Ababa or at the Taitu Hotel, where only locals usually go.
Rosa is available to our clients to help them discover the hidden magic of Ethiopia, one of Africa’s great unknowns, as if they were just another local.
