As much as possible. Uganda is a country with very underdeveloped tourism and the number of flights to the country is very limited, which reduces the number of seats available. In addition, the country only has 56 daily permits for gorilla viewing, so if you don't book in advance, it's impossible to get them.
The yellow fever vaccine. It is a single dose, lasts a lifetime and can be administered at any international vaccination centre. Those vaccinated must have an international vaccination card and, if they do not have one, they must request it at the centre where they were vaccinated. Malaria prophylaxis is highly recommended.
The gorillas roam freely, so it is not easy to know where they are, and it can take between one and three hours to find them. Although the trek is calm and guided by expert porters, you need to be fit enough to walk for three hours.
For people with mobility issues, limited physical strength or advanced age, there is the option of hiring stretcher bearers to carry them, at an extra cost.
Due to the country's political stability, it can be said that it is one of the safest countries in Africa, as the low influx of tourists has contributed to tourism being very welcome and especially cared for and protected.
